In an
effort to make one of our meetings a little more convenient for our “northside”
members, Punchy Powell set up a luncheon for us at the
Petite Auberge Restaurant in North Decatur.
It worked! We had close to 35 members and guests enjoy a fantastic meal and a
very interesting program. THANK YOU PUNCHY! We look forward to another
meeting at this location.
And THANK
YOU Flight member Bob Pahl for being our speaker. Bob shared just a few
of his
experiences as the U.S. Air Force senior investigating officer for the terrible
1988 crash of the Italian Air Force’s precision flight team – Frecce Tricolori.
Using video, Bob detailed the fatal ‘pierced heart’ maneuver that resulted in 3
pilot (#1, #2 and #10) and 67 spectator fatalities.
Hearing
about this mishap from an investigator that spent nearly 30 days working with
French and German investigators to determine what caused this horrific aviation
mishap, was both interesting and riveting.
